SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABILITY.
OUR COMMITMENT TO ACT WITH RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND OUR COMMUNITIES

Operating in a sustainable wiay is one of our main goals. La Giovane is committed to act as a “positive force” to minimise its negative impacts.

Our main actions are illustrated and reported in our Sustainability Report.

CHANGE OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Cooperativa La Giovane is an in-house contract logistics provider. We take over customers’ warehouses completely and independently. We organise the logistical process of goods, both incoming and outgoing, using our own vehicles, equipment and computer systems. We offer trained and specialist operators.

Repair of damaged shelving with a Dekra-certified method to reduce loading-unloading times and CO2 emissions by up to 70%
Car-sharing to the workplace: multiple people can use a single vehicle every day from our Parma site to the workplace with less impact on the environment (9-seater minibuses and cars)
Use of FSC-certified ECO-LABEL for cleaning and toilet paper and consumables in our facilities (international, independent, third-party forestry-specific certification for wood and non-wood products deriving from forests).
Participation in projects promoting biodiversity and pollinators repopulation, in cooperation with WWF

For several years, the protection of wild insects that contribute to flower pollination of thousands of species of greens, shrubs and trees has become a priority. The WWF is carrying out research and monitoring to understand which species are most threatened and which activities can be introduced to protect them. This effort was supported in 2023 by a new ‘friend’ of pollinators: La Giovane, which provides warehouse logistics services for companies and businesses. We decided to support actions, including the installation and maintenance of Bee Gardens that researchers can use to observe the species, their dynamics and the potential threats to their preservation. La Giovane explicitly requested the WWF to participate in projects concerning the preservation and protection of wild pollinator species, one of the primary links in the overall life cycle, by providing dedicated areas or contributing to the implementation of managed areas.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL CHANGE

The management and enhancement of human capital is instrumental for the success of the cooperative. Many initiatives are dedicated to improving the lives of our people:

For several years now, La Giovane has joined the “Osteopatia in azienda” project (“ostheopathy at work”), in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Osteopathy, offering treatments for its members and employees during working hours, to facilitate the rebalancing of the osteo-articular system and general well-being
